MESSAGE FROM
THE REGIONAL DIRECTOR
harles Spurgeon, the famous preacher, said that “when the heart is full of joy, it always allows its
Cjoy to escape.”
When I look back at 2016, my heart is indeed full.
The year has been a witness to numerous achievements and the overflowing accolades
that accompanied them. From being rated as “Best Office” for three consecutive years in the
rating of delivery units for the Performance-Based Bonus to having been recognized as the regional
office which has produced the most number of Seal of Good Local Governance Awardees for 2015
and 2016, the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region I (DILG R1) remains to be
one of the top performing operating units in the Department.
Over the years, the DILG R1 continues to soar to greater heights. These would not be possible
without the steadfast commitment of the whole workforce of the DILG R1 and the unwavering
support of our partners and stakeholders.
To the men and women of DILG R1, words could not contain how thankful I am for your abiding
support and cooperation. Behind every award bestowed on DILG R1 are its dedicated personnel.
Same can be said for the recognitions I have personally received last 2016. As I often say time and
again, you play a big role for every stride I make as a leader and public servant.
To the Top Management, Bureaus, Services and
the Local Government Academy, thank you for
guiding us as we deliver the services expected of
us in the region.
We also acknowledge our partners from
other National Government Agencies (NGAs),
Local Resource Institutes (LRIs), Civil Society
Organizations (CSOs) and the Local Government
Units (LGUs) for working with us and
complementing our efforts.
Most of all, we give thanks to our God Almighty
who has inspired and strengthened us. We thank
Him for resting His favor upon us and establishing
the works of our hands.
We welcome 2017 with the same momentum.
Let us embark on another journey towards a
more peaceful, orderly, progressive Region 1.
