                                                SILG Robredo awards PhP 58M PCF to
                                                50 Cities, Municipalities of Region 1


                                               Secretary  of  the  Interior  and  Local  Government,  Jesse  M.  Robredo  awarded
                                               PhP58  Million  Performance  Challenge  Fund  (PCF)  to  four  (4)  Cities  and
                                               46   Municipalities   of   Region   1.   The   awarding   is   one   of   the
                                               highlights  of  the  Tapatan  on  Disaster  Preparedness  and  Climate  Change
                                               Adaptation  of  DILG  Region  1  on  July  10,  2012  at  Oasis  Country  Resort,
                                               City of San Fernando, La Union.

                                               Regional  Director  Corazon  P.  Guray  of  the  DILG  shared  that  “the  PCF,
                                               already  in  its  third  year  of  implementation,  is  a  fi nancial  incentive  granted
                                               to  LGUs  with  Seal  of  Good  Housekeeping  (SGH),  to  fi nance  their
                                               local  development  initiatives  along  the  areas  of  tourism,  local  economic
                                               development,    disaster   risk   reduction   and    management     and
                                               solid waste management.” (continued to page 5)

          Region 1 inaugurates completed projects under
           the SaLiNTubig Program - the first nationwide


      The  Department  of  the  Interior  and  Local  Government  (DILG),
      Department  of  Health  (DOH)  and  National  Anti  –  Poverty  Commission
      (NAPC)  inaugurated  and  turned  over  completed  projects  under
      the  Sagana  at  Ligtas  na  Tubig  (SaLiNTubig)  Program  to  the
      Municipalities   of  Aguilar   and   Bolinao,   both   in   the   Province
      of  Pangasinan.    The  waterworks  systems  are  the  very  fi rst
      projects   completed    out    of    the    155    Projects   under
      the SaLiNTubig Program nationwide.

      “The  project  is  now  yours,”  declared  DILG  Region  1  Director  Corazon
      P.  Guray  to  the  Municipal  and  Barangay  Offi cials,  and  other
      stakeholders,  of  Aguilar,  Pangasinan,  when  the  PhP11  Million
      worth   Bayog   Spring   Development   Project   –   Level   II   was
      handed  over  to  the  said  municipality.    The  Director  said  that
      Aguilar  was  blessed  being  one  of  the  only  three  (3)  municipalities
      all   over   the   region   which   benefi tted   from   the   SaLiNTubig
      Program.    She  also  enjoined  them  to  take  care  and  maintain  this
      blessing, as “water is life” Dir. Guray said.  (continued to page 7)
